CCPI contributes to SB241

This past summer the Cradle to Career Policy Institute was given the opportunity to assist New Mexico’s Early Childhood Education & Care Department (ECECD) with the FY26 Child Care Assistance Program Act Implementation and Data Report. Lead by Dr. Kevin Estes, research assistant professor at UNM’s Pediatric Prevention and Population Sciences, CCPI examined data from the Professional Development Information System (PDIS). The newly implemented PDIS platform tracks and supports the early childhood workforce in New Mexico. Our team was able to report key workforce elements (i.e., program participation, daily hours of operation, professional qualifications, staff roles) to satisfy reporting elements required by The Child Care Assistance Program Act passed during the 2026 Legislative Session, as Senate Bill 241 (SB241).
