CCPI researchers shared findings from families and childcare providers at the New Mexico Association for the Education of Young Children (NMAEYC) conference held in early April at the University of New Mexico. The research focused on the ways in which state policy efforts to expand the child care assistance subsidy have affected families and child care providers in New Mexico. Research findings highlighted that state efforts have resulted in greater uptake of affordable childcare in New Mexico, providing substantial economic benefits and reduced stress for families. In addition, policy expansion has supported stability in the businesses of child care providers. However, barriers to accessing and providing quality child care still remain. The research team invited feedback throughout their presentation from their audience of child care teachers and directors. The research team’s PowerPoint presentation can be found here, with a related brief of preliminary findings here.
